Hiram College women’s basketball player and senior guard Danielle Day (Newbury) has been named to the 2013-14 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Teams as a honorable mention pick for her efforts this season.
This season, Day played in all 25 games and started 20. She recorded career-highs in almost every statistical category as a senior including finishing the season second on the team in scoring with a 10.1 points per game average while shooting 36.1 percent (82-of-227) from the field. Day scored 10 or more points in 14 games, including scoring a career-high 21 points in a 60-59 win against The College of Wooster on Jan. 29. She also posted six double-doubles that included grabbing a career-best 15 rebounds against Allegheny (Pa.) College on Jan. 8. Day led the team, and was fourth in the conference, in rebounding averaging 8.0 rebounds per game. In addition, she led the team in free-throws made (88), free-throw attempts (134), steals (33) and was second in assists (57).
For her career, Day scored 420 points (5.5 ppg.) in 77 games played with a 34.4 lifetime shooting percentage (140-of-407). She also converted 135-of-230 free-throw attempts for a 58.7 shot percentage. Day also grabbed 385 career boards with 130 assists, 74 steals and nine blocked shots.
