Hiram College students got a taste of professional life at the annual networking event on March 4, 2014, hosted by the Career Center, Office of Alumni Relations and Student Ambassadors.
This year, the event took the form of an Etiquette Dinner. Rebecca Doak, executive director of the Center for Student Success and Office of Career Development at the University of Mount Union, instructed the students in dinner etiquette, while local human resources professionals – many Hiram alumni – sat with students at the tables to talk about resumes and interviewing.
“We provide students with etiquette training because we realize that many students have not been introduced to standard business and dining etiquette,” said Kathryn Craig, director of the Career Center at Hiram College. “We know that it is critical for professionals to understand how to be comfortable in dining and social settings and to make others comfortable. The purpose of etiquette is to provide the education that makes people knowledge and comfortable in all situations.”
