Hiram College will present an art exhibition by award winning artist Stephen Litchfield in the Gelbke Fine Arts Center Gallery from Oct. 25-Dec. 6, 2013.

The exhibition will open with an artist talk and reception from 5-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25.

Litchfield’s work takes utilitarian objects and transforms them into “self-contradictions,” making common objects enigmatic through alteration, reconfiguration and unconventional display. He has received grants and awards from the Ohio Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts, and has had numerous solo, curated and juried shows throughout Ohio and across the U.S. Litchfield holds a Ph.D. in comparative arts from Ohio University, and a master of fine arts in sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and currently is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Akron.

The Art Gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by appointment.  The gallery will be closed Nov. 20 through Dec. 1 for term break.
