Personal Safety Week – Sept. 16-21

A series of events from Sept. 16-21 will highlight important issues related to personal and on-campus safety.

Monday, Sept. 16

  • Jail or Bail: 7:30 p.m., Fenton Hall (between Booth/Centennial) - Come learn more about the Hiram Judicial process, your rights as a student and the many resources on campus including campus safety and the police.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

  • My LifePlan: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Dining Hall - My LifePlan, Inc., will be in the Dining Hall to register students, faculty and staff for free.
  • “The Big Red Suit”: 7 p.m., Brown-Fall Room - The Hiram Village Police will be presenting on self-defense tactics and safety techniques individuals can use in difficult situations.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

  • My LifePlan: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Dining Hall - My LifePlan, Inc., will be in the Dining Hall to register students, faculty and staff for free.

Friday, Sept. 20

  • “SausageFest: Protect Your Wiener”: 7:30 p.m., Quad Courtyard - Join the Quad staff for the annual SausageFest!

Saturday, Sept. 21

  • Run for Grace and Andy: 8:30 a.m., registration 10 a.m., start corner of St. Rt. 700 and 82/305 – Annual event celebrating the lives of Grace Chamberlain and Andy Hopkins and their love for Hiram College.Grace and Andy were first-year Hiram students killed in a March 2006 accident when their car was struck by the vehicle of a drunken driver who had 11 previous DUI convictions. Classmate Evan DaSilva was seriously injured but recovered and has graduated from Hiram College. Proceeds from the run and walk each year benefit the College’s Grace Chamberlain and Andy Hopkins scholarship funds.
