Gary Allen, physicist and principal engineer on General Electric’s LED Innovation team, will present two lectures at HIram College on Sept. 4, 2013.
At 4:15 p.m. in East Hall, he will present a lecture on sustainable lighting and LEDs, sponsored by the Center for the Study of Nature and Society.
He will also present the Center for Integrated Entrepreneurship’s first Fireside Chat for the semester, later that evening at 7 p.m. at East Hall Forum.
Allen has spent his career finding ways to improve on Thomas Edison’s invention of the incandescent light bulb. With more than 40 issued U.S. patents, his recent contributions include the world’s first Energy Star certified LED replacement for the traditional incandescent light bulb, and a line of no-glare LED PAR lamps that can replace halogen reflector lamps, both products providing approximately 80 percent lower energy consumption.
Every Wednesday during the 12-Week, the Center for Integrated Entrepreneurship hosts Fireside Chats with local entrepreneurs.
