Hiram College men’s soccer player Ryan Greenhill (Solon) has been named 2012 Capital One Academic All-American as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) for the second straight year. Greenhill helped guide the Terriers to a perfect 9-0 record to start the season and finished the 2012 campaign with a 15-3-1 overall record. The Terriers also finished third in the conference with a 6-2-1 mark and qualified for the NCAC Tournament for the second straight season and fourth overall in program history since joining the conference.
Individually, Greenhill was second on the team in assists with nine and was third in goals scored with five. He ended the year with 19 total points which also ranked third highest on the team. His 19 points this season ranked fifth best in the conference and his nine assists tied him with teammate Ryan Minick for league top honors. Greenhill took 27 total shots this season, with 17 being on goal, while scoring two game-winning goals and was a perfect three-for-three in penalty kicks.
Greenhill ends his career as one of the best soccer players in program history and most decorated. In 72 career games, Greenhill has scored nine goals and 29 assists for 47 points. His 29 assists is the second most all-time and his 47 points is the 10th highest. Already this past season, Greenhill earned his fourth All-NCAC award, including earning first-team accolades in back-to-back seasons, and became the first men’s soccer player in program history to be named Conference Player of the Year since joining the NCAC. In addition to becoming a four-time All-NCAC award winner, Greenhill is a two-time NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region and an All-Ohio selection. In addition to becoming a two-time Capital One Academic All-American, he is a four-time Capital One All-District and a first-team Academic All-Ohio pick.
