Three members of the Hiram College football team have been selected to the 2012 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Team for their individual efforts this season. Junior offensive lineman Dan Fanzo (Boardman/Chaney), junior defensive back Josh Peacock(Carson City, Nev./Carson City) and freshman defensive back Tevin Weaver (Garfield Heights) were selected honorable mention. Fanzo earns All-Conference accolades for the first time in his career having completed his third year with the program. This season, he was a mainstay on the offensive line and helped the Terriers accumulate 1,680 yards of total offense (334 rushing and 1,346 passing). Hiram averaged 134.6 yards of offense per game and recorded a season-high 261 yards in the game against The College of Wooster on Oct. 13.
Peacock joins Fanzo as a first-time All-NCAC honoree. This past fall, he led the team, and finished second in the conference, in total tackles with 106 (52 solo and 54 assists). He was tied for second on the team in tackles for loss with eight and was also tied for second in interceptions with two. In addition, Peacock recorded a fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He had six games with 10 or more tackles, including a career-high 18 stops in the season-finale against Allegheny (Pa.) College on Nov. 10.
Weaver had a solid “rookie” season with the Terriers both on defense and as a member of the special teams. He ended the season seventh on the team in tackles with 44 (22 solo and 22 assists). He recorded one tackle for loss and was tied for second in both interceptions (two) and pass breakups (five). On special teams, Weaver was the team’s top kick returner who averaged 25.6 yards per return in 25 attempts. He had one return for a touchdown of 94 yards which came against Wooster on Oct. 13. He finished the game with a season-high 172 return yards which was one of four games this season Weaver posted 100 kick return yards or more.
