The Hiram College men’s soccer team was picked 20th in the latest D3soccer.com national poll and 21st in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. [D3soccer.com Poll] [NSCAA Poll]
The Terriers enter the national polls for the first time this season and currently have a 9-0-1 overall record and are 1-0-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference play. This past week, Hiram recorded a 1-0-1 record with a 2-1 win against Saint (Pa.) Vincent College in non-conference action and tied NCAC opponent Ohio Wesleyan University, 1-1, in double overtime.
The men’s soccer team will play a pair of road games this week beginning with a non-conference matchup against Case on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. Hiram will then travel to Springfield for a NCAC matchup against Wittenberg University on Saturday, Oct. 6 with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
After 10 games, junior midfielder Andy Harding (Bath/Revere) leads the team in goals scored (10), including a team-high three game-winners, and overall points (23). He also leads the team in shots (35) and is tied for third in assists (three). Senior All-Region forward Ryan Minick (North Royalton) is part of a five-way tie for second in goals scored with three and has tallied a team-high six assists for 12 total points, which is the second highest on the team. Senior All-Region midfielder Ryan Greenhill (Solon) is also one of the five players with three goals so far this season and has added three assists to place third on the team in points with nine. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Kramarz (Chesterland/West Geauga), sophomore midfielder Andres Ruiz (Georgetown, Cayman Islands) and sophomore forward Zaire Morrison(Boardman) have also scored three goals this season.
In goal, senior All-NCAC netminder Joe Rottinger (Strongsville) has seen the majority of the playing time and has a 6-0-1 record with an impressive 0.97 goals against average. He has made 22 saves for a 75.9 save percentage in over 650 minutes.
