Thirty-four students recently earned certification to assist families in their federal and state tax returns in 2012.
The Ohio Benefits Bank, in cooperation with the IRS, held a certification course at East Hall on Saturday, Dec. 10. Along with training, the students signed up to donate at least four hours of time to actually assisting families throughout Portage County. The focus is on serving families that qualify for the earned income tax credit.
Students will volunteer at tax preparation sites in Portage County throughout the 2012 tax season, including one at the Kennedy Center on Feb. 4, 2012.
