In honor of National Disability Awareness Month, Hiram College presents:
Disabilities Awareness Week
October 12 – October 15
Monday October 12
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Disabilities in the Dining Hall”
Spend a short time experiencing some challenges those with disabilities face everyday.

“Disabled People have a Culture?”
An introduction and question and answer session with Michelle Nario-Redmond and her daughter Ceara.

Cleveland Wheelchair Cavs
The Cleveland Wheelchair Cavaliers have been a part of the greater Cleveland /Akron area for close to two decades. They are comprised of a unique mix of players, some players who have been in the game for an extended period, all the way to some younger men who have recently just begun learning the game. Come watch as some familiar faces play wheelchair basketball with the team.
Volunteer Opportunities at Hattie Larlham:
Hattie Larlham is a nonprofit organization located in Mantua that provides innovative programs and services for children and adults with mental retardation, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and traumatic brain injuries.
Sign-ups for the following activities will begin at the Welcome Center at noon on October 7. Limited spots are available. Transportation is provided.
Tuesday, October 13

Group Game Night at Hattie Larlham
15 spots are available. Vans will depart from the Kennedy Center at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, October 14
6:30 – 8 p.m.
Pumpkin Carving and Seed Roasting at Hattie Larlham
12 spots are available. Vans will depart from the Kennedy Center at 6 p.m.

Dancing Wheels
Fleming Field House
Dancing Wheels is the first modern dance company to integrate professional stand-up and sit-down (wheelchair) dancers.
