CEE Celebrates Essay Winners, Capstones, Service Leaders

The Center for Engaged Ethics will celebrate winners of the Tom and Betty Niccolls First Year Essay Contest, at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 24 in the Pritchard Room of the Library. The event is part of Hiram’s Celebration of Excellence over the next two weeks. The essay contest winners were:

Second Place, Marshal Sarginger, ’15, “It’s Funny How Things Work Out”

Third Place, Kelly Scott, ’15, “Not Again”

In addition, Senior Ethics minors, Caroline Christoff, and Rachel Petrack, will present their Ethics capstone projects “Maid from Mexico: The Ethics of Migrant Domestic Work, ”and “Selling Sex in the Dominican Republic: Poverty, Exploitation, and the Next Generation” respectively.

The Center will also recognize its Hiram Service Leaders; Jeremey Donnelly-Rutledge, Teresa Lash and Caleb Lemmo, for their work at the Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary; Kelsey Flowers and Jamie Zychowski, for their work with Hattie Larlham;  Cody Bauer, Rosa Gomez, Hannah Petcovic and Taylor Zientara , for work with Hiram Farm Living and Learning Community;  Anna Borkan, Ariana Iacoboni and Jordan McCartney, for their work with King Kennedy Center; and Alex Engler, Jessica Turner and Nancy Wells, for work at Renaissance Family Center.
