Hiram College Ranks High for Return on Investment

Hiram College is among the top 15 percent of colleges in the U.S. for return-on-investment, according to a new ranking.

Educate to Career, a nonprofit organization that provides college planning tools to high school students and parents, published the rankings in late May, the height of graduation season. The rankings analyze colleges based on the quality of students when they enter, the total costs related to attending the college and starting salaries.

Hiram ranked 180th out of 1,222 colleges.

“The Index empirically determines the economic value added by each of the over 1,200 colleges ranked within our system,” said Michael Havis, founder of Educate To Career, in a statement. “We calculate the improvement in earnings and employability of persons who attended specific colleges, relative to persons who are similarly situated in other colleges.”

President Tom Chema said the rankings affirm the value of a liberal arts education.

“A Hiram education has always been an extremely worthwhile investment, preparing students not just for their first job, but for every job after that,” he said. “We’re pleased to be recognized in this way.”
